Justice Faez Isa has written a letter to Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Religious Harmony and Middle East Tahir Ashrafi saying the latter’s letter to the chief justice came as a ‘surprise’.
The top court judge said in the letter that Ashrafi did not bother to send a copy of the letter and attributed the words he had neither wrote nor uttered.
He said the religious harmony demanded the resignation of the top court judge though such a move is unconstitutional. Justice Faez wrote that Ashrafi should have asked him to step down.
Had Ashrafi raised the demand with him, it would have been better, the letter said, adding that he needn’t designation and he would step down if he feels he is unable to do justice.
Justice Faez Isa stressed the scholars like Ashrafi have never raised a voice against dictators. Rejecting Ashrafi’s allegations, the SC judge said he never spoke against Islamic laws and the constitution.
Ashrafi says letter written in good faith
On the other hand, the PM rep replied to Justice Faez Esa in a letter, saying that Justice Faez Esa should not be a judge. He should be a politician.
He said he has neither issued a fatwa nor provoke anyone against the SC judge. the top court judge should have done research before smearing, the PM rep on harmony said in the letter adding that judges like Justice Essa have been letting dictators rule.
He explained he wrote to the chief justice for giving the judge advice being the head of the judiciary. But perhaps judges like him don’t give this right.
