Heavy rain lashed provincial metropolis Lahore on Thursday and turned the weather pleasant as a westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist till tomorrow, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The rain spell has also put the authorities on alert as Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Hammad Abid directed all wardens to remain in the field in the ongoing rain across the city.
He said wardens must be in the forefront of traffic flow and ensure help to citizens during the rain.
Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Usman directed assistant commissioners to remain in the field and ensure smooth disposal of rainwater with the help of the concerned department.
Lahore Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) Vice Chairman Sheikh Imtiaz said that staff is on alert at Nakhuda Chowk and other parts of the city.
Heavy rains with strong winds continued in and around Muzaffarabad and raised the temperature again. There are reports of heavy landslides due to continuous rain in some places of Muzaffarabad and authorities have urged people to avoid unnecessary travel.

The Pakistan Meteorological Office said that dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country, while rain-thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, central and lower Punjab and Gilgit Baltistan.
In Shakargarh tehsil of district Narowal, rain with strong winds continued and turned the weather pleasant but there are fears the ongoing rain would damage the wheat crop.
Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) Spokesperson said Gapco Region areas are facing power outages due to strong wind and rain and there have been tripping and breakdowns on several feeders.
GEPCO CEO Jam Muhammad Ayub is in the field to monitor and improve the situation about power outages, the TV channel reported.
The situation of rain is not very much change in Hafizabad as rain continued in and around the Hafizabad city and in Pindi Bhattian Jalalpur Bhattian and Sukhaiki, Nanakana Sahib, Wazirabad, Sheikhupura, Feroz Vatwa and Raiwind.
The weather office predicted rain wind-thunderstorms in northeast Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. Dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country on Friday (tomorrow).
