Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal has written a letter to his predecessor Asad Umar in which he has invited him to the meeting of ministry officials so that he could brief them as to which were the projects of public interest he had launched when he was the minister, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

“Please set the date and time of your choice for your last appearance at the ministry and tell us about the projects, which you had initiated, and which you think should be continued in future as well,” he writes.

Meanwhile, talking to the media outside an accountability court (AC) in Islamabad on Friday where he had gone in connection with the hearing of Narowal Sports City reference, Ahsan Iqbal accused former prime minister Imran Khan of destroying the state institutions during his stay in office.

He said that the last government had kept its political opponents in jail. “Truth of the matter is that the PTI government during the last four years only committed ‘financial terrorism’ since there was unprecedented price hike and record corruption was committed under its nose,” Ahsan alleged.

Earlier, Ahsan sought permission from the AC to travel abroad.

In the petition, the minister filed through his counsel Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi, he said that the next hearing of the reference was scheduled to be held on April 26. “But since these are the last days of the holy month of Ramadan, I want to go to Saudi Arabia for Umrah. Please grant me the permission to travel just once. I will be back in a week, and will appear in the court the day I return to Pakistan,” Ahsan said.
