For the first time in the country’s history, an underpass will be built in the shortest time as Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday ordered the completion of an underpass, connecting Islamabad airport to Murree, in 35 days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During his visit to the project site, he directed that not only should work be completed at a brisk pace, but at the same time, the quality of work must also be ensured.
He said that while work was underway, arrangements should also be made for the smooth flow of traffic on alternate routes.
He said that after the completion of the signal-free corridor project, people would find it easy to commute between the airport and Murree. “This will also resolve the issue of traffic congestion frequently witnessed in the federal capital besides helping people save fuel.”
Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who briefed Naqvi on the occasion, said that work was underway at a brisk pace on the road network. “The underpass will be 479 meters long,” he informed.
