Maryam Nawaz Sharif's son Junaid Safdar Awan Sunday got Nikkah (married) with Ayesha Saif Khan in a luxurious hotel in London. Some of the overseas Pakistanis held a protest in front of the hotel against the Sharif family’s corruption.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, self-exiled former premier Mian Nawaz Sharif and other members of the family attended the marriage ceremony and danced on the Dhol (drum) beats at the entrance of the hotel. After the Nikkah, the guests congratulated the Sharif family.
Junaid Safdar’s bride is Ayesha Saif Khan, daughter of former National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Saif Ur Rehman Khan.
The wedding ceremony was held at 18:00 in The Lanesborough Hotel located in the Hyde Park Corner in London that was just a few minutes drive from Nawaz Sharif's residence.
The Walima ceremony (as per Islamic tradition) would be held after some time as it was not scheduled by the family yet, PML-N spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb confirmed.
She said though the mother of Junaid Safdar was not attending the ceremony but her prayers were with her son.
On the Nikkah ceremony, the Sharif family arranged strict security around the hotel. But, some England based Pakistanis including females carrying placards against the looted money from the Sharif family demonstrated protest.
Some of the Sharif family members and guests tried to stop the protesters and a war of words was observed on this occasion. Later, a female protester claimed that they just wanted to record their protest but were harassed by the Sharif family.
On the other hand, Maryam Nawaz has defeated corona and her COVID-19 test report was declared negative. So now, she would lead the scheduled meeting of PDM in Karachi.
