A petition seeking an investigation into the controversy of the Official Secrets Amendment Act and Army Amendment Act, 2023 has landed in the Supreme Court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
It has been prayed in the petition that the Federal Government should be directed to resort to the apex court for holding an investigation into the matter within 10 days.
The petitioner also requested the court to stay the implementation of both the Official Secrets Act and the Army Act until the court decides the case.
The petitioner said that after the startling revelations by the President that he did not give his assent to the bills, and that his staff undermined his authority, several questions are being risen on the legislation.
Both Acts are directly related to the citizens’ rights.
The petition was filed by Advocate Zulfiqar Bhutta in which the Federal Government has been made respondent.
