The caretaker government has decided to extend the date for submission of Hajj applications under the sponsorship scheme, sources said on Thursday.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the one-week extension will be announced tomorrow.
The insiders said 3161 applications under the sponsorship scheme have so far been received while the quota is 25,000.
More than 63,000 applications have been received under the regular scheme, the sources said, adding that there is still one day left to apply. Under the regular scheme, balloting will be held for the lucky Haj pilgrims.
Regular Hajj Scheme will not be extended as the authorities receive applications in excess.
The haj aspirants can now perform the ritual through the sponsorship scheme and applications can be submitted from abroad and this is exempted from balloting.
