Former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said on Thursday that twice he suffered a heart attack in Adiala Jail but the jail administration did not take him to hospital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He was talking to media along with another senior politician and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad at a court’s premises in Islamabad.
Responding to a question, he said he was contesting the general elections from three constituencies: three National Assembly and three Punjab Assembly.
He went on to say that the PTI had not been provided a ‘playing field’ let alone a ‘level playing field’.
Elahi was of the view that the crisis that would ensue in case free and fair elections were not held would be ‘unprecedented’.
Replying to a question about his meeting with the ex-PTI chairman who is in the same jail, former Punjab chief minister said there were too many restrictions inside the jail; therefore, meeting with another prison inmate was impossible.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Rasheed dispelled the impression that he ever gave a statement against the former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan, and said he would never betray him.
He informed that he would be contesting the elections from two constituencies. “I am happy that I have managed to gain the support of the PTI,” he added.
On the occasion, Elahi announced his support for Rasheed for which the latter expressed his gratitude.
Earlier, the court adjourned the hearing of judicial complex attack case, involving Elahi, until February 15.
Special Court Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain heard the case.
Sardar Abdur Razzaq and other lawyers representing PTI president in the case appeared in the court.
Addressing the judge, Elahi said that Imran Khan had words of praise for him.
The judge replied that it was his endeavor to do justice and pronounce decisions on merit.
Elahi told the court that he had suffered injuries after he fell in the jail; therefore, he be allowed to go to hospital for two tests required to ascertain the nature of the injuries.
Judge Zulqarnain asked him to submit his application and he would look into it.
