State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Saturday announced that current account deficit (CAD) was broadly unchanged at $1.93 billion in December 2021 as compared to $1.89 billion in Nov 21 cumulatively, led by a significant terms of trade shock, amid the ongoing economic recovery, cumulatively CAD reached $9.09 billion in Jul-Dec FY-22, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Moreover, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that Pakistan's economic growth rate has been increasing despite corona pandemic that hit economies of many countries around the world.
He said developed countries like the United States and Europe were also facing price hike issues due to coronavirus.
He said Pakistan's growth rate is improving due to bumper crops and the upward trend being shown by the exports, remittances and information technology sectors for the last many months.
Asad Umar said Pakistan is not facing any serious threat like other countries and the government has already made necessary arrangements in hospitals, besides completing vaccination of more than seventy million people.
