Renowned Pakistani mountaineer Samina Baig has become the country’s first woman to climb the world’s second highest and most dangerous peak, K2, on Friday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sumina Baig summited what is also known as the savage mountain (8,611 metres) at 7:42am as she along with her team stopped the push on yesterday (Thursday) due to the extreme weather conditions.
The 31-year-old, who is also the first Pakistani female to scale the Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, was part of a ten-member team.
Social media users have showered praises on Samina Baig for her courageous feat.
Born in Gilgit-Baltistan, Samina Baig became the first Pakistani woman to scale Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, in 2013 at the age of 22.
