Authorities in Karachi have swung into action to ensure compliance with the Sindh home department orders of closure of markets and shopping plazas in the city ahead of scheduled time in order to save energy, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

In a district-wide crackdown, Deputy Commissioner Karachi South Captain (r) Abdus Sattar Isani has sealed five restaurants, registered cases against 16 persons, while Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Tabrez Sadiq Marri has taken action in Sea View area of the port city.

In view of acute electricity shortfall resulting in prolonged power outages, the Sindh government had a few days back announced the closure of markets and shopping plazas before their scheduled closure; the move which traders did not welcome, saying that would affect their businesses.
