Three-year-old Fiza Asif may for the first time be able to hear after some days as she is lucky that she got a cochlear or bionic ear implant fixed in her ear at the Children’s Hospital free of cost, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
She is the daughter of a Punjab police department employee Asif Iqbal who applied to IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar about his daughter's health.
On the direction of IG Punjab, the welfare branch arranged for the latest cochlear implant worth Rs 18 lakh and 30 thousand for her.
A cochlear implant is a device implanted into the inner ear to directly stimulate the hearing nerve. Cochlear implants may be needed when hearing aids no longer work for a child.
After the operation at the Children's Hospital, the doctors fixed the girl with the latest hearing aid.
After Fiza Asif gets the external part of the implant, she will be able to hear completely, doctors said.
Asif Iqbal, a resident of Shahdara of Lahore and a Driver Constable said that the girl was born hearing and speech impaired.
Constable Asif expressed his gratitude to IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar for treating his daughter.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar ordered the welfare branch to continue taking vigorous measures for the care and welfare of the employees.
The department will provide all possible support in the further treatment and education of the girl, IG Punjab added.
