No respite in sight as hot, humid weather persists in most parts of country

Hot and sultry weather persists in most parts of the country, particularly in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh, with no major relief expected in the next 24 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday. 

It was hot and extremely humid in Lahore early in the morning as the temperature shot up to 34 degrees Celsius, making people sweat profusely.

The weather department, on the other hand, said that there were 50 per cent chances of rain in the city.

The city, with air quality index (AQI) recorded at 156, became the seventh most polluted city in the world.

It was 176 at Chatta Park, 163 in the vicinity of Lahore American School, 156 at the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and 156 at CERP office.

Although, there was drizzle in some parts of Karachi early in the morning. Still it failed to bring respite for Karachiites from intense heat.

The humidity level in the city was recorded at 66 per cent.  

Weathermen predicted the maximum temperature to reach 36 degrees Celsius during the day, adding it would feel like between 41 to 43 degrees Celsius.  

Breeze was blowing from south-westerly direction at the speed of 12 nautical miles per hour.

The Met Office, on the other hand, predicted hot and humid weather for most cities of the country, including Islamabad, during the next 24 hours.

Similarly, it forecast dry weather for Murree, Galyat and surrounding areas, extremely hot and muggy weather for most parts of Sindh, while strong winds for southern Punjab districts of Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Layyah and Multan.   

It forecast rain, accompanied by strong winds, for Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Zhob, Barkhan, Panjgur, Khuzdar and suburbs in Balochistan and at few places in Azad Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
