Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s disgruntled MPS from Sindh Assembly Malik Shahzad Awan has claimed that the PTI has admitted its defeat before the holding of the by-election in Karachi’s NA-249, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.
Awan said when he asked the PTI’s parliamentary board regarding reasons to give the ticket to Amjad Afridi, they replied that they have given the ticket to Afridi as they could not win the election.
He said he has written a letter to PTI’s chief organizer Saifullah Niazi in this regard and have told him that if the PTI loses this seat under these circumstances Governor Sindh, parliamentary board, general secretary and Niazi would be responsible for this defeat.
Earlier, Malik Shahzad Awan had tendered his resignation in a protest against the party decision of awarding a ticket to Afridi for the NA-249 by-election.
Awan, who elected MPA from PS-116 (Karachi West-V), said that he already wrote a letter to the prime minister about awarding ticket to the suitable candidate. “Afridi is a weak candidate because he could not even win the UC election. His past record shows that he is not eligible for this seat. He has also lost the MPA election in 2018. All eyes are on the NA-249 by-election and the PTI wants to win this seat at all cost,” Awan added.
Earlier on Friday, PTI awarded a ticket to Amjad Afridi for the NA-249 by-poll. The seat fell vacant after PTI leader Faisal Vawda resigned from the National Assembly after electing as Senator.
