A new coronavirus variant JN1 has been rearing its head in KP, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
Two employees of the Khyber Medical University have reportedly caught this virus, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Services Director General said in a letter to the District Health Officers.
The DG issued directives to adopt measures to stem its spread. Reportedly, nine such cases surfaced in the province this year.
Director of Public Health Dr Irshad Roghani says that the prevalence of the JN1 variant is 83% while this variant has a lower mortality rate.
The DG also issued an advisory to protect the people from this virus.
