Utility Stores Corporations has canceled the tenders for the purchase of 45000 metric tonnes of sugar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Utility Stores Corporations was planning to purchase more sugar to control likely shortage of sugar during Ramazan.
However, the tender was cancelled due to high rates beyond USC’s expectation. It was reported that Utility Stores Corporations received Rs142 per kilogram bid and after adding transportation and other expenditures, its prices was touching 155 rupees per kg.
Utility Stores Corporations now claimed that it kept ample amount of sugar in stores and there was no need to seek tenders for the time being.
