The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench Monday ordered to release Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shireen Mazari, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
While hearing the plea against the detention of the PTI leader, the court ordered not to re-arrest Shireen Mazari if she is not nominated in any case.
The court also ordered Shireen Mazari to submit an affidavit to the deputy commissioner that she will not be involved in any such activity in future.
Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz conducted hearing on the plea. Barrister Shoaib and Aneeq Khatana presented arguments on the plea of Shireen Mazari.
Shireen Mazari’s daughter Iman Mazari was also present in the court.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) also heard the plea against the re-arrest of Shireen Mazari.
IHC judge Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the plea. Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akbar Nasir Khan also appeared before the court.
“Are you defending this arrest?” Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb inquired. “The Islamabad police obeyed the orders of the chief commissioner and violated the order of this court. This case is fit for issuing a contempt notice.”
The IHC judge said to the additional attorney general: “Do not embarrass yourself any more. Do you want me to close my eyes and let illegal things happen? The Islamabad IGP was not made a respondent in the contempt petition. The contempt notice cannot be issued to the Islamabad IGP.”
Lawyer for Shireen Mazari said: “We can amend our plea.”
“The court order was violated in Fawad Chaudhry case. The court showed restraint by giving the government the benefit of doubt. The court had earlier issued only a notice instead of a contempt notice,” the IHC judge said.
“Do you want to make the IGP a respondent in the contempt petition?” he inquired.
“Yes, we will amend the petition and make the IGP a respondent,” lawyer Zainab Janjua told the court.
“We will see it after the plea is amended,” said the judge.
