Fruits and Vegetables Exporters’ Association Patron-in-Chief Waheed Ahmad said on Wednesday that Pakistan had found new markets in the world, including in the Far East and the Middle East, following the ban imposed by the Indian government on the export of onions from the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He said so much so that this year the export of the vegetable had exceeded that of other fruits and vegetables to reach $210 million. “And it will reach $250 million by the end of this year,” he informed.

He said it was heartening that Pakistani onion was available in the world’s large stores.

Waheed was of the view that the government would have to take steps to increase the shelf life of onions.
