The tents given to the flood victims under the Prime Minister's Relief Package have been sold publicly in the Mohini Bazaar of Nawabshah, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Ironically, when the locals spotted some of the relief tents in a shop, the owner of the godown called the police to keep them silent, the sources claimed.
The warehouse owner continued to threaten the citizens and abused the media representatives too, but the concerned authority did not take any notice of the issue. The flood survivors further alleged that local influences are behind this corruption.
It is pitiful that flood and rain victims are still helpless and forced to reside under the open sky in the severe cold, but influential people are busy taking illegal benefit.
Pertinent to note that there are some reports that during the floods of 2010, Saudi Arabia’s gift of 252 lakh tents to flood victims were illegally sold in the market by the involved commission mafia.
