Justice Ayesha Malik will not be part of the constitutional bench in the Supreme Court next week, as confirmed by the newly issued roster.
The bench will now comprise six judges under the leadership of Justice Aminuddin Khan, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Friday.
As per the channel report, Justice Malik is scheduled to resume hearing regular cases in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
The six-member constitutional bench will address several high-profile cases, including: 1) Petitions seeking voting rights for overseas Pakistanis; 2) Petitions challenging the ban on student unions; 3) Suo motu notice regarding FIA notices and harassment of journalists; and 4) Implementation of the Urdu language as mandated in public offices.
Additional cases on the roster include: 5) Jamaat-e-Islami's plea for an investigation into the Panama Papers scandal; 6) Ensuring uninterrupted gas supply to industries; 7) Prohibiting the hunting of the rare bird, Tilor; 8) Suo motu notice on minority rights, restoration of gurdwaras, and the Jaranwala incident; and 9) Suo motu action on deaths caused by pneumonia and hepatitis and issues surrounding medicine prices.
