Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday criticized the termination of Radio Pakistan employees and said those who did that were actually slaves of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Bilawal said after laying off 450 employees of Pakistan Tourism Development Cooperation (PTDC) and 9,000 employees of Pakistan Steel Mills, the latest attack is on Radio Pakistan workers.
He demanded the immediate restoration of the Radio Pakistan employees.
Later addressing the workers convention in Ghanche district of Gilgit Baltistan, Bilawal said: “I am a grandson of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and son of Benazir Bhutto. I am not a ‘player’ who would forget his promises. People sitting in Islamabad are not ready to listen to the voices of the general public,” he added.
Bilawal said PTI governments in both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab have ruined everything. “PPP’s government will give GB its due rights,” he vowed.
Bilawal praised the beauty of Gilgit Baltistan region and said he has asked overseas Pakistanis and foreigners to visit GB before coming to Sindh.
Aaddressing a PPP workers corner meeting in Skardu, Bilawal said announced that his party’s government would open universities and campuses in all districts of GB.
PPP will launch a comprehensive program for the Gilgit Baltistan and said he would fulfill all his promises with them and will change the destiny of Gilgit Baltistan, he added.
Bilawal Wednesday reached Skardu for pacing up the campaign for upcoming Gilgit Baltistan elections to be held on 25 November.
Bilawal addressed the PPP workers in Skardu, saying he will complete the mission of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and will protect the constitutional rights and interests of the people of Gilgit Baltistan.
Bilawal pledged to provide jobs and said he came to Gilgit Baltistan to fulfil the PPP manifesto for the region. He requested people to support him in fulfilling those dreams and promises.
Gilgit Baltistan elections
The schedule for the general elections in the Gilgit Baltistan region had been announced by Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shehbaz.
According to the schedule, general elections in Gilgit Baltistan will be held on November 15 (Wednesday) on 24 general seats of the GB Legislative Assembly.
The elections were supposed to be held on Aug 18 but were later postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is pertinent to note that five-year term of the previous assembly of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had ended on June 24.
