The intermediate education boards throughout the country have rejected the policy of passing students by granting them five percent additional marks, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The decision was taken at the meeting of the Intermediate Board Chairmen Committee (IBCC) held in Karachi on Friday.
The IBCC members opposed the policy, saying the students’ ability to learn is diminishing due to the additional marks.
The IBCC maintained that the students would have now to take examination this year to get the elevation to the next classes. There would be neither additional numbers nor any reduction in the syllabus, the IBCC added.
The meeting resolved that the matric and intermediate examinations will be conducted in accordance with the full syllabus.

If there would be a need for more time to complete the syllabus then the examinations would be delayed, the IBCC maintained.
The IBCC participants were of the view that by reducing the syllabus and granting additional five percent remarks the students’ ability to study is being compromised.
