PTI central leader Asad Qaiser Monday condemned the passage of the 26th constitutional amendment, claiming it was passed in an unconstitutional and unethical manner under the cover of night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a tweet, Qaiser criticised the hasty approval of the amendment, accusing those behind it of buying votes and violating parliamentary norms.

“This amendment will only lead to more favouritism between institutions,” Qaiser stated, questioning the urgency with which it was passed. He alleged that members of parliament were bribed and coerced into supporting the amendment, thus disgracing the legislative process.

Qaiser further asserted that the Senate's approval of the bill was also unconstitutional, pointing out that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not properly represented during the vote. He called out Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, asking if this was the version of democracy PPP stands for.

In a scathing remark, Qaiser accused those involved in passing the amendment of betraying not only their party but also Imran Khan and the nation. “The sellers of conscience are traitors,” he said, urging PTI leadership to take strict action against those who supported the amendment.

Qaiser praised the PTI members who remained loyal to the party, particularly those from Punjab, and reaffirmed his support for Imran Khan. He reiterated that Khan's fight is against unconstitutional forces working against the rule of law and the public interest, vowing to continue the struggle for the supremacy of the constitution.

“Imran Khan's courage and determination reflect that he will emerge victorious in this battle for truth, and the entire nation stands with him,” Qaiser concluded.
