The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) has achieved another significant milestone on the global stage, with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) designating the Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH) as a Collaborative Centre for South Asia.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, this recognition is a testament to the institute's vital contributions to various sectors in the country.
PAEC Spokesperson Shahid Riaz Khan said PINSTECH, a subsidiary of PAEC, serves as the organisation's primary research and development institution, playing a crucial role in scientific and technological advancements in Pakistan.
The institution is also home to the country's largest scientific and technical literature database.
PAEC spokesperson Shahid Riaz Khan highlighted that PINSTECH's valuable role in Pakistan’s socio-economic development was a key factor in earning this international recognition. This honour, he added, is a matter of pride for the entire nation.
The agreement, formalizing PINSTECH’s new status, was signed by PAEC Chairman Dr Raja Ali Raza Anwar and a representative of the IAEA.
