Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Rana Sanaullah has appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the audio leak related to his mother-in-law and order a forensic of the telephonic conversation.

Addressing a press conference in Faisalabad on Sunday, he said those involved in the leaked audio must be questioned, and the judges who are being referred to in the audio should show some grace and step down.

The minister’s press conference comes after an alleged audio call between the mother-in-law of Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial and the wife of famous lawyer Khawaja Tariq Raheem has come to the fore, in which both ladies are heard talking about the current political scenario of the country.

In the purported audio, the two elderly women can be heard discussing snap polls, their support for the chief justice, and their resentment towards the incumbent government.

The minister said the purported audio call is a “matter of concern” for the general public and politicians alike and it must be thoroughly investigated.
