If you're in a WhatsApp group chat and the vanishing messages function is enabled, you can now save some critical discussions, such as an address or voice note sent to you.
WhatsApp's "Stay in Chat" feature, launched on otherday, allows you to bookmark messages delivered to you.
According to Meta, it can also help you organise your phone and boost storage space.
It allows you to set a timer to erase messages in your WhatsApp chat, with options of 24 hours, one week, or 90 days.
To enable fading messages, follow these steps:
1. Open your WhatsApp conversation.
2. Touch three vertical dots in the upper right corner.
3. Choose Disappearing messages.
4. Choose the message timer you wish to use for when messages are automatically deleted: 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days.
5. Press the back arrow in the upper left corner.
Here's how to preserve a message once it's turned on:
1. Long press the message you want to remember.
2. Touch the bookmark symbol, which is found near the respond arrow at the top of the screen.
3. The message sender will be alerted of your request to save the communication, and he or she will have the authority to veto it.
If you don't see the option in your WhatsApp chats just yet, it's because Meta is implementing it over the next several weeks.
Communications saved in WhatsApp will be stored in a Kept Messages folder and sorted by chat.
