Two Khawarij terrorists were killed and several injured during a joint operation by Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Pakistan Rangers and Police near Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) border in Dera Ghazi Khan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
A police spokesman said that a severe firing incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Wahwah Police Station of Kotanitel area in Dera Ghazi Khan.
The spokesman further revealed that CTD, Pakistan Rangers and local police cordoned off entire area and started search operation after receiving intelligence report about presence of terrorists.
After taking notice of security forces, the terrorists opened fire on them and attacked them with rockets, hand-grenades and other heavy weapons.
During heavy exchange of firing one elite force personnel Adnan Habib and CTD personnel Ghazanfar received minor injuries.
After retaliation from LEAs, some terrorists take shelter in the nearby bushes and later escaped. The LEAs were on red-alert due to presence of terrorists in border areas of Punjab.
Soon after receiving the report, DPO Syed Ali along with heavy contingent of police reached the area. RPO Capt. ® Sajjad Hassan paid glowing tributes to LEAs personnel for conducting successful operation against terrorists.
Inspector-General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar also paid glowing tributes to LEAs personnel.
