As many as 6,800 advocacy licences of Lahore High Court Bar lawyers have been suspended for non-payment of over Rs 40 million dues to the high court bar, reported 24NewsHD and City42 TV channels on Sunday.

The licences were suspended only after repeated notices were served to submit the outstanding dues. The TV channel quoting its sources said over 6,800 lawyers of LHC Bar are also “defaulters” of more than Rs10 million.
The Lahore High Court Bar has given these lawyers till December 25 to submit their dues. The majority of non-paying and licensed lawyers are from Lahore, the sources said.
“Lawyers who do not pay their dues by the due date will be ineligible to cast their votes in the by-elections,” the Secretary LHC Bar said. He said lawyers should pay their dues by the due date so that they can cast their votes in the by-elections.
