Police arrested a dangerous criminal, wanted in a murder case, Naveed Ahmad from Qatar through Interpol, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to police data, a total number of proclaimed offenders arrested from abroad has reached 112 this year after the arrest of Naveed Ahmad.
Earlier, the Punjab Police issued a red notice with the help of Interpol for the arrest of the accused and his return home.
At the airport, accused Naveed Ahmed was handed over to Gujarat Police for further legal action.
Inspector General of Police (IG) Punjab DR Usman Anwar congratulated the concerned team on the arrest of the dangerous proclaimed offender of (A) category and instructed to intensify the crackdown.
IGP said that efforts should be made to arrest all the proclaimed offenders through close contact and effective follow-up with the plaintiffs of the cases.
Close liaison with FIA, Interpol and other agencies should be ensured and more and more advertisers should be arrested, Dr Usman Anwar concluded.
