Wapda Chairman Engineer Lieutenant General Sajjad Ghani Tuesday visited the Dasu Project and Diamir-Bhasha dam, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Wapda Chairman said that the long-standing issue of acquisition of land for the Dasu project has been resolved and this will help accelerate the construction works.
He also reviewed the construction progress going on at the key sites of Dasu Project and Dayamir-Bhasha Dam project. The representative of the project briefed to Wapda Chairman that the river diversion system of the project is functioning satisfactorily during the high flow of water season in this year. However, the flushing tunnel for bypassing the dam site has been opened for traffic temporarily. It was also stated that the production of electricity from Dasu hydropower project will be started in 2006 whereas the Diamir-Bhasha is scheduled to launch in 2027-28 which will be able to store 8.1 million acre-feet of water and produce 4500MWs of electricity.
Wapda Chair Sajjad Ghani directed that the process of diverting the river for Diamir-Bhasha Dam should be completed in November this year as per the schedule.
