With December upon us, the wedding season parties aren’t coming slow, even amidst the second wave of COVID-19.
Unfortunately, both public and private sector hospitals are overburdened with scarce resources and a growing number of cases every passing day. Even then, citizens refuse to follow preventive measures.
Addressing the hopeless state of affairs, a recent public service message by South City Hospital’s COVID unit frontline worker, Dr Shaista Ghazal went viral.
In the video, Dr Shaista emphasises what difficulties a COVID-19 patient goes through while also highlighting the importance of following the three main preventive measures at all times.
Her message states, “Right now, the situation is such that we have very sick patients being admitted in our hospital and our hospital is filled to capacity. One of the most important problems the patients face is that they can’t meet with their family. Patients who are off the vent and are awake, they are going into severe depression because of that. There are very simple steps to help prevent the disease from spreading. Wash your hands, use sanitizers, use masks and practice social distancing. We request you all, to follow these three simple steps for yourselves, your loved ones and your community so that the disease can be controlled.”
Adding to the message, renowned journalist, Sidra Iqbal tweeted, “Such an important message for people. #GoBackToBasics. Make sure you’re wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and washing hands with soap. Protect yourself and protect your loved ones.”
Hoping that after watching this impactful message, people start taking the pandemic more seriously and also religiously follow all preventive measures as advised by the doctors.
