Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, quoting examples of Sialkot-like incidents, on Thursday said that extremism has been damaging the country’s image, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sheikh Rasheed addressing an event at the Capital Development Authority in Islamabad in connection with Christmas celebrations, said no Christian person has been involved in terrorism.
Sheikh Rasheed said he was sick for the last three days but specially came for the Christmas ceremony.
Lauding the contributions of the Christian brethren of Pakistan, Sheikh Rasheed said that around 70 schools and colleges have been operated by the Christian community. He paid glowing tributes to the Christian community members for their services for the country.
He said that construction of Nullah Lai Expressway has been approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ENEC) of the federal cabinet.
The minister said that Pakistan has good relations with all countries and religions.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said that the government was committed to resolve all problems being faced by the minorities including Christian community.
The minister said he will make his best efforts to resolve the residential problems of the Christian community in the federal capital.
He also directed the CDA Administration to pay salaries of workers of the Christian community before the 25th of this month.
