Dr Affan Qaiser, a renowned Pakistani doctor and digital creator, has called out social media influencers Iqra Kanwal and Ducky Bhai, accusing them of promoting content that negatively impacts the younger generation.
In a podcast, Dr Qaiser expressed his concerns about the lack of ethical boundaries in digital media content.
“The difference between Halal and Haram isn’t defined in digital media anymore,” he remarked. “While some creators focus on informative content, others jump into swimming pools with their families, paint their spouse’s face, or wear their partner’s clothes just for views. They’ve shown everything about their lives except for their bedroom intimacy. If they were British or American, they would have probably shown that too.”
Dr Qaiser highlighted that such influencers earn millions monthly through content that, according to him, lacks substance. “Now all these cartoons have united and opened a restaurant,” he said, adding that the young minds consuming such content are left with misguided impressions of life and success.
He also criticized the algorithms of social media platforms, saying, “These algorithms are designed to push vulgar and obscene content into people’s feeds. They prioritize posts being widely discussed and shared, forcing audiences to engage with them even unwillingly.”
Dr Qaiser admitted to facing criticism, even from his wife, for singling out popular vloggers. However, he stood by his belief that influencers bear a responsibility to create content that uplifts society rather than setting harmful examples for impressionable youth.
Known for his health awareness initiatives and motivational talks, Dr Qaiser often uses his platform, with over 4.2 million Facebook followers, to critique the growing influence of subpar digital content on societal values.
