Lamenting that court appearances had now become a daily routine in his life, former federal minister and self-proclaimed PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said on Monday that one of the cases registered against him was that of stealing four charpoys, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to the media outside an accountability court in Faisalabad, he said that people at the helm of affairs had decided that not a single police station should look deserted. “Therefore as many prisoners have been crammed into each police station as possible.”
Fawad said that over 100,000 raids were conducted on the PTI workers’ homes. “Due to this, there is a lot of bitterness in our society these days,” he added.
He said that the confrontation between the former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan and the establishment had benefitted the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the YouTubers and separatists. “But Pakistan and the country’s army have suffered the most,” he opined.
The former federal minister described the initiation of a dialogue between the PTI and the government as a ‘good omen’. “We are politicians. We cannot carry guns in our hands and climb the mountains.”
“If negotiations help bring the political temperature down, then it will be a good development,” Fawad said, adding, “There is an open war against those maligning Pakistan Army.”
He called for the release of all PTI prisoners, including Imran.
