Mardan Girls Cadet College functioning sans building

Pakistan’s first government Girls Cadet College in Mardan is functioning without any building forcing female students to continue their studies at Girls Commerce College, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The construction work of the new building of Mardan Girls Cadet was started in 2017 and the KP government allocated 240 kanals of land for the construction of the Girls Cadet College building.

The provincial government also approved an amount of over Rs2 billion for the construction of Girls Cadet College building. But despite passage of three years the building of the Girls Cadet College was under-construction. Parents of the girl students expressed their dissatisfaction over the construction work of new building.

They demanded provincial government to allocate separate quota for conducting of ISSB examination in the new building of the college. 

Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education said that provincial government already released Rs100 million for construction of the Cadet College.

He further said that now they receive new application for provision of additional grant of Rs350 million which also be released soon, the secretary education concluded as saying.
