New Gwadar International Airport is likely to be operational from January 1, sources said on Monday.
The sources said the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) planned flight operations for the New Gwadar International Airport, with ATR and Airbus 320 aircraft to be operated.
The airline is also working on deploying equipment for the operation of Airbus 320 aircraft, a spokesperson said.
A traditional water salute will also be presented to the PIA aircraft at Gwadar International Airport and Federal Minister for Defence and Aviation Khawaja Asif is likely to inaugurate the first operation at New Gwadar International Airport.
A total of Rs 55 billion has been spent on the construction of the New Gwadar International Airport and its runways have been built according to world standards
The airport is a key project of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The airport has been built by the Civil Aviation Authority in collaboration with China.
