Ali Ejaz, an actor and comedian, who acted in 106 movies including 84 Punjabi, 22 Urdu, and one Pashto film and his TV serial Khawja and Sons and film Dubai Chalo are regarded as his best work, after putting smiles on millions of faces and admirers, spent last years of his life miserably.
Ali Ejaz (1941 – 18 December 2018) known for his film roles in FBI Operation Pakistan (1971), Sona Chandi (1983), and Chor Machaye Shor (1996).
Ali started his career with theatre in the 1960s, later introduced to the film world by the famous film producer/director Shabab Keranvi who had met Ali Ejaz in a bank.

“One day I was standing outside my home for a rickshaw but despite an attempt, the auto-rickshaw did not stop. As I was standing there, two students were also passing from the road. One of them pointed out, look, he is Ali Ejaz, let us find him a rickshaw, on which the second friend replied do not waste time, he will find the rickshaw for himself as the final days of the actors will always be miserable like this.”
Ali Ejaz after narrating this incident cried on the television show, whose video clip is taking rounds on the internet these days, and told the interviewers that he even cried for a time facing the wall after listening to the statements of both friends about actors.
The eight-minute clip is nothing but says much about reality of life.
He frequently acted in Pakistani television plays. While working at PTV, he trained a generation of artistes. His film roles and his pairing with actress Anjuman and actor Nannha were highly popular in Pakistan in the 1980s. Popular comedian Munawwar Zareef was his school fellow.
He was honoured with the prestigious Pride of Performance Award in 1993 by the President of Pakistan and twice received the Nigar Award for Best Comedian in 1981 and in 1984.
Ali Ejaz recalled the best time of his life in which he was too busy to handle the overload of appointments from the industry and when prominent people used to wait for him in their cars outside his home.
“Oh Lord! If you had to show the downside of life, then why would you first show the rise in life,” the actor said, having tears in his eyes.
He said, “When I used to sit in a rickshaw then the drivers interviewed me and asked where your cars are and where is that glory you have seen in your life. I always cry after listening to the harsh reality of life.”
‘I am Syed Gillani and whenever I feel pain in my heart, I always recite this Quranic verse Innallaha Ma Sabireen (Surely, Allah is with those that are patient),” Ejaz said.
You could have listened to many motivational lectures, but Ali Ejaz has something more to tell you. He narrated how he came out from sheer paralysis when he just really wanted to pray the Asr namaz. “One day, at Asr namaz time, I prayed to Allah Almighty to give me strength so I could stand and pray. Thank God, he gave me the required strength and I crawled towards the bathroom, took shower and changed my clothes and then in my room offered the Asr namaz.”
