A case has been registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Zubair Niazi and Ibad Farooq for attacking a police van during the party’s ‘jail bharo tehreek’ in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The case was registered at the Civil Lines police station on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Afzal Virk.
The provisions of terrorism, arson and rioting had been included in the case.
“Zubair Niazi, along with his colleagues, himself sat in the police van,” read the text of the first information report (FIR).
“Ibad Farooq attacked the police van on Mall Road. He, along with 70 to 80 people, damaged the police van. The attackers broke the windscreen of the police van,” it added.
“The police van was damaged from all sides in the attack. Ibad Farooq threatened the uniformed driver and officials. The accused, including Zubair Niazi, ran away after rioting,” it stated.
The accused were produced in anti-terrorism court and the police sought their physical remand.
