Despite the fact that Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad had yesterday denied there were security threats to the federal capital’s educational institutions, most of them remained closed on the second day on Tuesday as well, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sources told 24News that several universities namely Bahria University, National Defence University, Air University, National University of Modern Languages (NUML) and COMSATS had been closed yesterday for an indefinite time period due to an alert issued by the law-enforcement agencies (LEAs).
Quoting administrators of these universities, sources informed that they had intimated the students about their decision beforehand.
The administrators said that the final exams of students risked getting delayed because of the closure of these universities.
On the other hand, sources in the police told 24News that security had already been tightened in Islamabad on account of upcoming general elections and the sit-in by Baloch protestors outside the press club.
They informed that the personnel of LEAs were busy combing the areas in the outskirts of the capital city.
