Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has been appointed as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

After showcasing exemplary performance as the Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi is poised to take on another significant role, with Prime Minister's approval for his nomination as a member of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced.

The Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination is set to issue a notification in connection with this development, formalizing Mohsin Naqvi's nomination as a potential Chairman of PCB.

However, for him to assume this position, approval from the Federal Cabinet's management committee is mandatory.

Post the Election Commission's endorsement, subsequent elections will be conducted for other members of the PCB, ensuring a comprehensive representation.

The electoral process will be overseen by PCB Election Commissioner Shah Khawar, who is scheduled to conduct the elections before February 3.

Naqvi — a media channel owner, who has been serving as the interim chief minister for a year — also confirmed his appointment while speaking to reporters in Lahore soon after the news broke out.

“I will try to fix the issues affecting Pakistan cricket. Reforms in cricket are the need of the hour,” Naqvi said.

Earlier, Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), has tendered his resignation from the position just two weeks before the scheduled expiry of the IMC’s tenure. The announcement came during the fourth meeting of the PCB’s IMC at Lahore’s National Cricket Academy.
