The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday summoned the woman who accused former Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam of sexual harassment, maintaining “If you want to pursue the case then you should be in the court on next hearing”, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Hamiza Mukhtar had complained that Babar Azam and she had been in a relationship for a while, and he assaulted her after promising marriage. The petitioner said that that the cricketer had failed to honour his promise once he climbed the ranks.

During proceedings on Thursday, LHC’s Justice Asjad Javed Gharal ordered the woman to appear before the court in personal capacity on February 6.

Babar Azam had challenged the lower court’s decision for registration of a case against him but the LHC has suspended that verdict.

Azeem Akram advocate represented Babar Azam in the court but Hamiza Mukhtar skipped the hearing. “If the woman does not appear in court on next hearing then I will give my ruling on Babar Azam’s appeal,” the judge said.
