PML-N says full bench has become necessary in view of constitutional crisis in Punjab

2022-07-23T13:51:00+05:00 News Desk

All the parties in the ruling coalition Saturday issued a declaration strongly demanding of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to constitute a full bench of the Supreme Court to hear the petition against the Punjab Chief Minister election because it is an important national, political and constitutional matter, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The declaration said that the Constitution has drawn a clear line of authority between the legislature, the judiciary, and the administration, which an arrogant figure of anti-constitutional fascism (Imran Khan) has been trying to erase.

The parties involved in the ruling coalition reiterate their commitment that there will be no compromise on the constitution, democracy, and the right of the people to rule. All the coalition parties will move forward together to eradicate the darkness of fascism, the declaration maintains.

Imran Khan wants to bankrupt Pakistan's constitution, people's right to rule, and the democratic system as well as the economy, the declaration reads.

Ata Tarar says PML-N has always respected court orders

Punjab Home Minister Ataullah Tarar on Saturday demanded the constitution of a full-bench of the Supreme Court (SC) to hear the appeal filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) against the Punjab Assembly deputy speaker’s yesterday’s (July 22, 2022) ruling in which he had declared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Hamza Shehbaz winner in the election for the seat of Punjab chief minister.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Ata Tarar said that the formation of full-bench had now become more necessary in view of the constitutional crisis prevailing in the country’s largest province (population-wise) for the last several months. “The PML-N has always respected the court orders,” he claimed.

Tarar claimed that Hamza’s election as the Punjab chief minister was as per law.

He went on to say that there was no proof of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s (PML-Q) parliamentary party meeting, and that a party’s head had the right to take decisions. “There is no video footage of that meeting,” he said, adding even Moonis Elahi, Pervaiz’s son, had admitted defeat when he returned empty-handed from the home of the PML-Q head Chaudhry Shujaat.

“Furthermore, 25 PTI MPAs had been de-seated following the party head had sent a reference to the Supreme Court against them,” he reminded.

Holding the PTI responsible for the crisis in Punjab, he wondered as how the party had mustered the courage to approach the apex court.

The minister said the PML-N’s yesterday’s success would not have been possible without Divine intervention.

Commenting on the statements issued by the PTI leaders, including the party Chairman Imran Khan, following the chief minister’s election, Tarar said political leaders should not talk like this.
