Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) President Abdul Aleem Khan has excused himself from working as the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) head owing to his political engagements, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi had requested Khan to become the SIMS chief, but the latter, while expressing his gratitude to the former, said he was unable to work on that post.
He, however, made it clear that his organisation Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation would continue to play its role in the development of the Services Hospital, Lahore so that it could become a state-of-the-art health institute. “I want to see the hospital becoming the best in Punjab,” he added.
Khan, instead, proposed the name of Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan, saying in his view he was far more suitable for the job. “Hassaan is an able and honest person,” Khan said, adding, “He could introduce positive changes in the SIMS."
It is pertinent to mention here that the Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation is already running a 30-bed dialysis unit at the hospital.
