The woman who was present in the flat of DIG Shariq Jamal Khan during the latter’s death has been identified as Quratulain Fatima, a spokesperson for the Election Commission of Pakistan, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Lahore Shariq Jamal has been found dead at a flat in the city’s DHA area in the wee hours of Saturday.
The sudden incident of demise has raised concerns, leading the authorities to launch a thorough investigation into the case.
A poet and writer, Quratulain Fatima is a spokesperson for the ECP since last December.
She has also been the spokesperson for Pakistan Railways.
It is generally believed that Shariq Jamal and Quratulain were good friends as both liked poetry and other literary activities.
According to her initial statement, the condition of Shariq Khan deteriorated after taking some “aphrodisiac drugs”. She took him to a private hospital nearby where doctors confirmed his death.
The police have allowed Quratulain Fatima, her husband, and other persons to go home. They were taken into custody by the police for investigation.
The sources said that law enforcement officials have started a thorough probe.
