Every year, the President of Pakistan confers civil awards on prominent Pakistanis in recognition of their achievements and services rendered for the development of the society from all wakes of life, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
For this year, President Arif Alvi on Thursday granted civil awards to many prominent personalities for showing excellence and courage in their respective fields. The ceremony of these awards was held in connection with March 23 at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Prominent among those who received the awards included APTMA Patron-in-Chief Gohar Ejaz, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, squash legends Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan.
Poet and writer Amjad Islam Amjad's award was received by his son. Similarly, actor Sohail Ahmed received the award for late actor Qavi Khan.
Eminent Urdu News Reader of Radio Pakistan Taskeen Zafar is also amongst the recipients of Presidential Pride of Performance award.
A total of 253 civil awards were presented to Pakistani as well as foreign nationals at the ceremony.
