The cellular services in parts of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad will remain suspended on Saturday (March 23), 24NewHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
According to sources, the cellular services in areas adjacent to Parade Ground in the federal capital will remain suspended as part of the security measures on Pakistan Day.
The authorities decided to suspend the cellular service from 6 am to 2 pm, said the sources, adding the wireless internet service will remain suspended tomorrow
The nation is celebrating Pakistan Day tomorrow with a renewed pledge to work hard for the progress and stability of the country.
Pakistan Day marks the adoption of the historic Lahore Resolution in 1940, which provided a framework for realising the goal of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent.
The day will dawn with special prayers, followed by a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. The national flag will be hoisted on major government buildings.
The main feature of the day will be the grand military parade in Islamabad where contingents of the three armed forces and other security forces will conduct a march past while fighter planes will present aerobatic manoeuvres.
President Asif Ali Zardari will be the chief guest. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Ministers, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the heads of the three armed forces will also participate.
The People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China and the Army of Azerbaijan will also be part of the Pakistan Day Parade this time.
The Saudi defence minister will be a special guest while diplomats and defense attachés of friendly countries will also join in.
An investiture ceremony will be held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in the afternoon where President Asif Ali Zardari will confer awards and medals to personalities for their outstanding contribution in different fields.
