Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has taken a playful jab at India’s Virender Sehwag, urging him to stop repeatedly reminiscing about his famous 309-run knock against Pakistan in Multan back in 2004.

The banter started after Sehwag shared a video clip from a commercial on Instagram, referencing his iconic triple century in the caption. However, Akhtar seemed unimpressed, calling out Sehwag for continuously bringing up the innings even after two decades.

“I saw a video of Viru Paaji. Man, I am fed up of hearing him talk. It is the same tape he has been playing for the last 20 years – ‘300, 300, 300’. Come on, brother, I was there too when you scored that 300,” Akhtar said in a lighthearted Instagram video.

The Rawalpindi Express went a step further, humorously offering Sehwag a place in the Guinness World Records for frequently mentioning the milestone.

"You played really well, no doubt. But it is the month of fasting, and one has to control their tongue – so please, stop now. If you want an entry in the Guinness World Records, I can get that done: ‘The person who says 300 the most in the world – Virender Sehwag!’”

Sehwag’s 309-run marathon in Multan remains one of the most talked-about innings in India-Pakistan cricket history. His remarkable knock, along with Sachin Tendulkar’s unbeaten 194, powered India to a massive total of 675/5 declared. In response, Pakistan managed 407 in the first innings and 216 in the second, conceding an innings and 52-run defeat.
