Drug Court grills DRAP over Panadol shortage

Seeks report why 30 million tables were not produced despite plenty of raw material available

Drug Court Chairman Muhammad Naveed Rana sought a report from DRAP Additional Director on Nov 25 over not manufacturing 30 million Panadol tablets despite having enough raw material, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The chairman of the drug court in Lahore on Tuesday sought reasons from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) that why Panadol had not been manufactured despite enough raw material available and how much stock was supplied to the market that led to the medicine crisis that eventually irked citizens.

DRAP presented a GSK Company report in the Drug Court after the court took notice of the Panadol shortage in the market.

As per the GSK report, “DRAP provided 2246200 kg raw material to the company which only made 17600000 Panadol tablets and supplied 6925000 tablets only to the market. The company was tasked to prepare 2246200 tablets of Panadol.”
