In two major actions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the Counter Terrorism Department arrested two most wanted terrorists including a commander of the proscribed Daesh organization on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Acting on a tip-off, the Punjab CTD captured the most wanted Daesh commander Khalid/Muhammad Nabi. The Daesh commander has got a Pakistani Identity Card with the fake name of Muhammad Nabi. The CTD police recovered a large quantity of weapons from his possession.
It has been revealed during investigations that the recovered explosive material was to be used in the subversive activities in Rawalpindi.
During his grilling, Khalid/Muhammad Nabi confessed that after swearing allegiance to Daesh former Caliph Abu Bakr Albaghdadi six years ago, he was appointed as Amir Daesh Kharasan Dilsawali Noor Gul. He said he was tasked to organize the Daesh in Kharasan and he remained busy in fighting and defending areas under the Daesh control
Khalid/Muhammad Nabi was also arrested by the Afghan forces in 2019 and remained incarcerated in Jalalabad Pul Charkhi jails. He managed to escape the Pul Charkhi Jail when it was broken after the Taliban came to power in 2021. He said he illegally entered Pakistan from Afghanistan.
In another major operation, the Punjab CTD with the help of a civil intelligence agency arrested another Daesh terrorist Farooq Abbas who hails from Peshawar.
The CTD captured him along with explosive material.
The Daesh terrorist entered twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi in order to carry out terrorist activities in these cities.
Investigations from these two Daesh operatives are underway.
