The appointment of permanent principals in 420 colleges in different cities of Punjab including Lahore is pending because the recruitment process, started six months ago, could not be completed due to the laxity of the Higher Education Department (HED), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to report, the interviews of candidates who applied for permanent principals have not yet begun.

The Higher Education Department started the process of appointing principals online in July and the candidates also submitted applications and data online.

Applications were invited for 420 colleges through the portal and due to the receipt of thousands of applications, the recruitment procedure was also changed.

Moreover, interview marks were also reduced and 10 marks were given for interview instead of 20 while 10 marks were kept for the candidate's educational qualification.

Further, 20 marks were allocated for ACRs and 10 marks were allocated for tenure and 5 marks were allocated for seniority while 20 marks were allocated for administrative experience, 10 marks were allocated for college posting, 5 marks were allocated for training workshop.

Principals are to be appointed for a term of three years.
